What do people use to label their stuff that actually stays on the equipment?

I used this IDmygear paint sold at my local dive shop.

Sharpies. The black is good on anything not black and they have a metallic silver that is great on black.

Does this stuff work good for like on fins?
Im sure almost anything will work good on a BC and like boot and such.

The paint worked well on my suit / boots / fabric...but on my fins, because they're flexible they start coming off

For my fins I've pretty much used an orange sharpie.

I second that recommendation. I used a metallic silver sharpie on all of my equipment including fins. It has stayed on just fine, if for some reason it doesn't it is really cheap to reapply.

I think the local diveshop uses something similar to whiteout to put numbers on their BC's. I'll have to look into that though, I'm not sure if whiteout is water soluble. Maybe it isn't....

I put dog tages on the left shoulder of my bc and on the screw of my reg setup. They have my name, addres, and phone numbers and they make my gear easy to spot.

What to use to label my equip?
