Cayman vs Belize

Anybody care to make a comparison between these two places? - trying to decide which one to try and both sound good.

where in Belize vs. where in Cayman? The diving in different areas of Belize is fairly different. Somewhat true for Cayman too.

Do both, sooner or later.

Little Caymen has fantastic walls. Amerbris, unless you sign up for the all day trips to the dive sites south of there (Turneff-Blue Hole) will be shallower reef diving. Both trips are worth doing, but you will see slightly different stuff. When I dove Ambergris with Amigos del Mar, we didn't travel far but saw spotted eagle rays (15 in sight simultaneously on one safety stop), nurse sharks ( 5 or 6 at a time) and grundles of reef fish. Boats had 6-8 divers. Entry was by back roll. Exiting the water, you doffed your gear and handed it up to the deck hand and then climed out. A lot of entertaining places to eat in the evening.

Little Cayman, the shallower reefs are a bit storm damaged, but the walls are superlative. The reef fish denisty is a little less and the diversity a little more restricted, but still impressive. There are some wreck dives at Little Cayman that had no counterparts in Ambergris. I did the Caymans on a live aboard (Nekton Rorqual) so I don't know much about the resteraunt/entertainment there.

Hope that gives at least a thumbnail comparison. I enjoyed both locations and would recommend both.
