I am a marine studies teacher in Queensland, Australia - I teach snorkeling (to grade 10 students) and scuba (to grade 11 & 12). About 200 students do this course.

Does anyone know of a commercial DVD to use as an intro to snorkellers (skills and safety)- things like entries (backward roll, giant stride, triangle of safety), duck dives, smooth efficient finning, hand signals, wetsuits and weights, care of fins and mask - maybe also cover Shallow Water Blackout, equalizing and any other safety matters.

Thanks for any contributions.

I don't believe it is possible to learn the skills except in the water. I'll be happy to share my lecture outlines with you.

I think underwater video is a great training aid, especially for young people.

I have never seen these two videos that Terry Maas and Dave Sipperly produced to accompany their book "Freedive" , but I have seen Terry's "Blue Water Hunters" video about freediving and spearfishing, and it's quality is excellent.

I doubt Terry's video will follow the scuba class format of snorkelling, but will undoubtedly go way beyond that level.
