hello i have 3 oceanic regs that are coming in to there first years service i normaly service my own but i bought these new last year when i was in fl and then moved to kentucky dont trust the shops here yet does ocean have a mail in service or have some kind of mail order parts so i can service them

Oceanic will only sell parts to authorized dealers. They do have a mail order service but you'd be better off asking them who their authorized dealers are in your area. This way your parts are covered and the only thing you'd pay is labor. It would be a good way of starting a good relationship with a local shop that could be beneficial in the future. Unless you have all the tools( IP guage, wrenches, 2nd stage adjustment tool, etc) to do it yourself and don't care about the warranty. Then you might find a shop to sell you the rebuild kits but I'd be leery of one that would do this if they didn't know you real well. Liability issues and such.

Some shops would rather make some profit from you than none. If you get lucky and find one of those, don't look the gift horse in the mouth. Liability issues seem to be a popular excuse (anybody have the list of cases where shops have been sued as a result of selling parts) but I believe the real issue is they want to make more $$ from you than they would just selling parts.

It is my understanding that the Oceanic dealer agreement does restrict the retail sale of parts.

Hi,
The following is from Oceanic's website which may be viewed at the following link. I had to list it in two parts so I wouldn't go over quota.

All warranty and service program registrations require both the dealer's and owner's signatures, and other specific dealer and product information, to be valid.

ONLY products purchased from Authorized Oceanic Dealers are eligible for ANY warranty or service program coverage.

On a more personal note.......Isn't scuba equipment considered Life Support Equipment? I certainly wouldn't want to find out that hospitals would practice fixing their own stuff with out factory training. I am assuming you have your own compressor because if you don't trust the dive store to fix your equipment then you probably wouldn't trust them for airfills either. I apologize if I sound a bit harsh but it bothers me when someone says they don't trust a local dive store. I would have felt better hearing maybe "I am a bit uncomfortable with my local dive store since I just moved in the area" but flat out don't trust (without giving a reason for the lack of trust) is a bit harsh. Good luck
