Jon,
Try Gerstle Cove, south of Salt Point State Park. It's a cove, a preserve, in the state park shore, with parking and bathrooms only 3 minute walk from entry. Jump in off the rocks when swell comes up, and ride one back up to exit. Check the NOAA bouys both 46013 Bodega and (46014?) Point Arena, in the search and rescue section for swell and wind info. Tops, dive up to 5ft swells and low wind, or the surge and waves can chuck you around in there. Also, call the salt point dive info daily recording for vis. and conditions at 707)847-3222, usually updated 830am.
Have fun! peterthewolf

Jon, sorry, missed the rest of your q.
Reason Gerstle Cove is it's rich in life, beautiful, fun with a little surge, and not too deep for a first no. cal bubble cruise. If it is too choppy when you arrive, go to Ocean Cove (pay 7) for easy access and as much chop as you wish the further out you want to kick or boat. Best, Peter

would 7 feet at 13 seconds with no wind be good? it sounds good to me... that's what it is right now, just trying to get a feel for what would work... we'll be there the 3rd of feb...
