View Full Version : BNC Line Cutters
Rickoz October 27th, 2002, 07:47 AM Hi I've done a search for a web page, but no go. Anyone know of it  trymixdiver October 27th, 2002, 11:32 AM BNC line cutters ? to me that means british naval connector, which is not a scuba tool. What is your definition of BNC ? I am confused. Andy roakey October 27th, 2002, 11:37 AM I thought it was a kind of Coax connector. Roak trymixdiver October 27th, 2002, 11:57 AM Roak You are correct, we are talking about the same BNC. BNC is the older Network connection used on computers. Locks like coax but it is the connectors that make it different. The BNC type are twist locking using a spring at the connector and 2 little pins on the sides. I am sure there is alot of it out there still, but new networks are using CAT5, Fiber optic or even wireless now. Andy Iguana Don October 27th, 2002, 05:03 PM Big Nylon Cord! Bob3 October 28th, 2002, 09:34 AM If he needs a really slick line cutter, I saw a hook knife at DEMA that dang near made me pee in my pants. I'll see if I can track one down on the web someplace. MadReefer October 28th, 2002, 10:17 AM G'day Try looking for an RG-58 coax stripper at www.Anixter.com You may need an RG-62 coax tripper instead. Why are you resisting the 21st century? Twisted pair is much faster and less problematic. the equipment is so cheap now and available at the consumer electronnics stores. jmtcw. MAD Rickoz October 29th, 2002, 06:30 AM It like DiveRite Z-Kinfe but looks tuffer (wont break) ;) Bob3 October 29th, 2002, 02:03 PM http://www.bcnscuba.com/ Yah, those are hook knives. As a Jumpmaster, I've had my hands on all sorts of hook knives. The Italian hook I saw looked like it'd take a 3/8" line in the wink of an eye, by far the best blade I've seen in over 25 years of parachuting. (or 35 yrs of diving). "Innovative Scuba Concepts" has them, they're made by an Italian outfit. http://www.innovativescuba.com/ sn# TM-1601 comes with sheath, 7-1/2" long, $10 - $12 retail They're not pictured on the web site, & you'll have to go through your local dealer to get them. The major distinguishing factor about these knives is the use of semi-serrated razor blades, it looks like it would have no trouble zipping through a tree branch, not to mention a piece of line. If you can't find a shop to order the critters for you, give a yell. I'm going to be getting some of them for myself. Another source for hook knives is a parachute supply house, one that I've used quite a bit is PARAGEAR. http://www.paragear.com/default.asp Look under "accessories", and then select "knives". The Italian knife I mentioned looks like the "Jack the Ripper" but with serrated stainless blades. Happy Hooking...:mean:
