Nowadays it is hard to find good boats, able to go to the off shore sites that take fewer than 18-20 divers (remember RE who took only 14...). Which is the smallest steel hulled vessel you know of in Egypt, that can make the trip to Brothers?
cheers

I think Tiger Lily is still doing The Brothers, but she takes 20 people when full. I've been on the boat three or four times, but the last time was a good three years ago and last time I saw her she was looking a shadow of her former self, in good need of a drydocking and major overhaul. Dunno what the state of play is now.

Seems impossible to find a good, steelhulled boat that 14-16 guests today. The ones taking 20 and more are just too big - want to charter a boat and go with a smaller group, say 12 divers in total, and it gets too expensive per diver when having 8-10 spare bunks.

I know what you mean. I think the costs of building a steel-hulled vessel are such that the owners make them at least 20 people so they can recover their money and start making a profit sooner rather than later.

That's the reason. Those trips are too cheap...
