I'm going to be in Vegas at a conference at the end of Januray. Any recommendations for dive shops re: diving Lake Mead?
Thanks

The link Steve provides has some good information about diving Lake Mead. Not much has changed since then other than the water level dropping some more! You probably won't have much luck with finding a charter that will go out at this time of year. It's difficult enough to find a charter that will go out in the summer! However, you might be able to convince Lake Mead Tony or these guys here to go on a dive or two. Shore diving isn't the best there. The last time we were there, visibility was down to about 5'. If you have the time, you're better off heading to Lake Mohave for a couple of shore dives. However, be prepared for some heavy winds through the canyon this time of year. We've seen 2' chop in the lake due to the winds! As for shops, we usually get fills in Boulder City, about 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas. They're on the way to Lake Mead (3 minute detour from the route to Mohave) and can fill O2 clean tanks. The other couple of shops in Vegas we've been to can't fill O2 clean tanks and are a bit out of the way. Hope this information helps.

Thx, Dive-aholic.
