View Full Version : Underwater Walkman
Baroo November 6th, 2002, 01:37 PM anyone know of one or ever make one? mudguppy November 6th, 2002, 01:45 PM I dive to get away from those :) Used the com gear (walky talky stuff) but I personally haven't heard of a walkman or anything similar yet. drizzt117 November 6th, 2002, 01:58 PM They make one, but it is definately not worth the price. They sell one at Divers Discount Supply (http://www.diversdiscount.com) for $500 (Sea Sound Underwater Walkman). Hope that helps. Thomas Baroo November 6th, 2002, 02:11 PM $500 is nuts! JDostal November 6th, 2002, 02:42 PM I hope no one has ever made such a thing.. Bob3 November 6th, 2002, 02:55 PM There are a couple outfits making underwater MP3 players, but I ain't recalling who makes 'em. Tim Ingersoll November 6th, 2002, 04:07 PM The idea sounded intriguing until I though about it. It might be nice for deco stops but for actual diving it kind of defeats the purpose. Besides last time in Provodenciales we listened to whales on our dives! That beats any recorded music I ever heard. Baroo November 6th, 2002, 04:15 PM I work underwater and was hoping to have it to help pass the time... SM Diver November 6th, 2002, 04:49 PM You might want to hear that HP hose hissing, getting ready to explode! :D dc4bs November 6th, 2002, 05:47 PM tampascott once bubbled... You might want to hear that HP hose hissing, getting ready to explode! :D Hehehe... After diving on Sunday, one of the guys showed me an LP hose he had connected to an HP port in error. BANG! looked like the end of a 1/2 exploded firecracker... SwimJim November 6th, 2002, 06:48 PM Thats kind of like putting a radio on a motorcycle. Its just not done. Not by real bikers anyway. If I was doing decompession diving where I had to hang for twenty minutes I could see it though.=-) FLL Diver November 6th, 2002, 10:09 PM Omicron once bubbled... I hope no one has ever made such a thing.. And more than one too! There's the more standard set ups like this (http://www.graphic-ideas.net/rse1074.html) or this. (http://www.iqkids.net/aqunfmrad.html) And then there's this solution (http://www.amphicom.com/pages/produits/aquafmEN.htm) for a problem I didn't think existed. :D Marc :jester: Bob3 November 6th, 2002, 10:52 PM I work underwater and was hoping to have it to help pass the time... I used to spend 10-11 hrs/day on the bottom, in blackwater. You just have to tune your brain into "the Zone" & step outside of the normal sensation of time. More difficult to do if ya have to pee, tho. :mean: drizzt117 November 7th, 2002, 01:47 AM Bob3 once bubbled... More difficult to do if ya have to pee, tho. :mean: Not if you have a drysuit with a Pee valve in it...heh heh... Thomas DiverBuoy November 7th, 2002, 03:49 AM Some of those dry boxes could handle the depth of your deco hangs. Just place one of those 1000 hour digital players in a drybox. Hint: set it on max volume and repeat. It won't be perfect sound, but it won't be bad either. And it will certainly cost less than 500.00! Tekkie November 7th, 2002, 04:22 PM If you really want to listen to music underwater diversdiscount sells a 500.00 model. Or you can get a 15.00 plastic bag with water proof head phones. My opinion, don't wast your money. There not worth it. www.diversdiscount.com/ Tekkie.
