For recreational divers who use the longer primary, how do you decide which length is good enough? LDS said I have different lengths to choose from.

Look at your tag line. 7'. It's standard. If you ever find yourself in an overhead environment (rec or not), you can exist single file. It's really easy to route. It makes air shares easy. Easy to find size.

Also, looking at his sig line. He doesn't have a BP, which makes it harder to have a can light (to tuck the excess hose)

5' hose will work with anything, it would be a better choice.

If you're going to go under the arm & around your neck 5' is too short I'd go with at least a 6' or 7' to be more comfortable.

You sure about that?

I sense a DIR vs non DIR debate about to begin...
Where do you see the DIR vs non-DIR?

My husband and two of my good friends (a medium-sized woman and larger man) dive 5' hoses, and none of them finds that too short. It is a very nice way to have a longer hose primary that works with any kind of BC.

Have you actually used a 5', or is this speculation? Either way, I'd have to disagree. I'm 6'1", 190lbs., and use a 5' without a single problem. I only dive singles with no can light, so 5' is the perfect fit. 6' or 7' either would be way too much in this situation.

Agreed, without a BP/W, 5' is probably easier to deal with.
