Has anyone use Spirit Airlines? Especially one of there "deals"? They have some from Ft. Laud. to Grand Cayman for $8. Small window of opp., limited dates, and round trips but there are some dates that could work for us. Even the return prices still makes it very attractive. Could drive to FL to save several hundred $$s. I think I even saw one a few days ago from Atlanta to GC. Just wondering if anyone had purchased one of these specials?

I'm going to Boston in March on a non-diving related trip for $8 one way, $69 return, on Spirit.

They are my "hometown airline" and fly new Airbus 320s (I think all the DC-9s they had are gone now). They are definitely a higher quality but lower cost airline.
Be aware of their recent policy change to allow only one free checked bag however.

I used to fly them often when they first came to Chicago-OHare, but now find they are rather high on the ORD-FLL runs.

We flew them to Cancun from FLL. The prices do not include taxes. Add around 100-150 for taxes. We have no complaints and we will fly them again. You can figure out prices with tax. Just pick the one you want and you can view the total without buying.

We got round trip to Ft. laderdale for 32 bucks per person, but it had to be 8 days of vacation.
Now they limit you to 1 check in and 1 carry on. Extra cost $10.

I fly them about 3X per year. I live near AC and the family lives in Myrtle Beach. They are a great airline for quick getaways, but if you have a ton of bags they will get you on that.
I just booked 4 tickets 1/2 hour ago ;)

I flew them once, to Grand Cayman, last August out of DC. They were fine and the price was decent.....

That is a new rule, just went in effect a few weeks ago. Likely, other major airlines will do the same. If the other major carrier's don't do that, then they'll probably drop it.
We flew under the old rule, so were able to carry our full compliment of luggages. What's really cute about Spirit, is, you occasional can fly for 8 cents...
REally, 8 copper pennies.... But to link 2 RT flight would require extended vacation... But for an 8 cent one way ticket... That is essentially free.

I have flown the the last couple of years on Spirit with only one plane having a delay. Good airline. Several trips to Ft Lauderdale and 2 trips to Grand Cayman.

I use Spirit deals all the time. Great since the AC airport is only 3 minutes away. Most of the time the $8. deals end up being one way unless you can stay 2 weeks. Still, we went to Ft Lauderdale for $79. and back for $8. Can't beat it! Great Plane, new leather seats and decently wide in coach. Get a spirit number and rack up the points, I got 1 RT already and have 1,000 points to get another.
