I'm planning a trip back to Cali to see my family, Livermore area. Could anybody give me good sugguestions and recommendations to some good charters, dive spots, and dive shops. Also what is more worth seeing, SanFran or Monterey Bay? I've never dove in Cali so I'd like to see the kelp forest if they are that far north in Norcal. Also are there any caves in California that anybody knows about.

You really don't want to dive in SF Bay - bad vis and still some nasty stuff in the water,
though it's getting a lot better. Yes there's kelp this far north. No caves. What's
your experience level? What's your cold water (< 55F) experience level?

The invertebrate life is better than the kelp forest, IMHO.
