Okay children.. FOCUS, FOCUS... Here is the issue. Earth Day is 4/22/07. Opening day of Snapper Season is 4/21/07. For those of us that like to shoot the little red fishy this may be a problem. As we all know the regulations for Snapper may be changing ten days after the season opens and therefore life gets harder. So, I'm out but if you want a suggested plan. Everybody meet at Tacky Jacks for breakfast at 9:00 on 4/22/07, then go to the spot where Gary said the nets are, take a knife and cut them out. Gary is committed to Opening weekend I believe, as am I. Sorry to start something then back out. I didn't realize the conflicting dates. So much to do, so little time.

Alot of the nets are on the beach side of the west jetties, and close around the point. The ones around the piont will be a bit hairy picking out if you don't dive during slack :) Could be fun.

Are you offering this as a sponsorship or promotion and at a reduced rate per diver just to cover your expenses and if so, what would the cost per diver be and would it be on Saturday or Sunday of that weekend?:)

Of course the divers would have to furnish their own tanks, air and equipment.:)

I know it is hard for you to believe but I still didn't know that the Perdido Pass Gary mentioned and the Jetties you mentioned were the same location. I thought there may be more than one location where people would be doing cleanups like it was 3/24 and 3/25 on our panhandle dive n dine when we split up and went diving at different locations. You know that dive sites, tide times and conditions are not my strong suits. I leave that to you experts. I just try to help get people together to dive and have a good time together.:)
I never post on a thread unless I read the whole thread so that I know what has been said. I certainly may not understand everything, but I read it. :)
I am glad you will be attending and I will finally get to do some shore diving with you. I will let you and Gary do the planning for this event since you guys are familiar with the area, tides, etc. :)

I’m not for sure but they use to set up a table at the Gulf State park where they handed out bags, gloves, ect. If a large group got together they seen to it the trash bags was collected on site plus you got a Tshirt for your role in cleaning up.

Now with that said Bugman I’ll meet you there at 2pm if you wish. Hell it will give me the chance to try out this new gear and have someone to pull me out if I don’t figure it out right I’ve never used wings before :eyebrow: I’ll even pitch in ten pounds of Craw fish and a cooker if you like.:popcorn:

Since it has already been established that I am geographically challenged, my knowledge of the facilities is nonexistant as well. Does this dive site have facilities as in a bathroom, showers, picnic tables, pavilions, etc., easy beach acess, how far do you have to carry your gear and how hard is the dive?

All of the above the dive is simple during slack tide. We do have a problem with them Bulls in the pass nothing a big stick cant take care of and a large hood to cover the blonde hair they sure do like blonde hair. You being new to this dive with the sharks and all don’t worry about a knife your local guide will have one. We learnt a long time ago all we need to do is to reach over and cut a hamstring of the newbie and we don’t have much trouble out running the bulls;)

All jokes aside you will enjoy the dive and see some Marine life to boot

I can't dive this weekend and next weekend....I work for myself preparing tax returns and my boss won't let me off...she can be a real pain in the butt sometimes ....I forget what # she is. :D

The next weekend is the the Earth Day clean up dive on the 22nd and you (Jon) already have your work cut out that day waiting on me. ;)

I will be doing some spring diving the last weekend in April. PHD is offering his smoker again, but says he is not going to do the cooking....like he would really let someone else have the honors...those guys were fighting over who was going to get to cook for me on March 25th when we were at Morrisons (someone started a rumor about the cook getting a kiss);) ...and I must say these guys know how to cook....So I'm game for another cookout at Morrisons if anyone else wants to.:)

tough call..... this one IS pretty cool. and I was the one that picked it out, at a road side flag shop (well, it was kinda a shop, it was out of a trailer, with a tarp, and a little table.)

:11: Excuse me but how did I get to be the OP of this thread?....I'm just visiting on Donna's thread...drumming up divers to help clean up on earth day and someone said my mouth was tooooo big!! :D Imagine that!!;)


In all serious, (none of you laugh either):) when some of us start a thread about an upcoming dive-n-dine we talk about the dive, talk about the dining or cooking and we always wind up poking fun at each other and joking around. We have had one of these get togethers a month now since December and they have been very successful. The last two have had at least a dozen scubaboard divers present as well as some of them bringing family members. We use the bantering back and forth to get to know each other, to make new people feel welcome and to become friends before we even meet. These dives have been open to everyone and we encourage everyone who "wants to" to participate in the fun on the thread and the fun at the dive-n-dine.
I appreciate the fact that some people want their announcements about an upcoming event to stay specifically on topic and I respect your wishes and will confine my replies accordingly.:)
