Greetings:

My wife and I am plan to go diving in Sharm El Sheik in a few weeks
and were hoping that we could get a recommendation for
a competent dive operation.

We are both experienced divers but have never dived the Red Sea before.

I have seen several sites that appear to be good diver operations but
was hoping to get some feedback from folks who have dived in Sharm El Sheik
in the past year.

Appreciate any feedback that you can provide.

Thanks,

Jimmy

Wrong forum, but I'm sure you'll find your answers here...

It does help with discussions if you complete your Profile. And it's even more fun when you load an Avatar (personal pic for each post) and a Profile pic. See UserCP above to access these if you'd like to...?

If you haven't yet, click Forums above and start going thru the list - looking for those of interest to you, especially your local dive club. Always good to try a Search before starting a new thread, tho :search: - click here for Search help, and be careful about posting Threads & Replies before reading the Sticky threads at the tops of most forums. PM me if I can help you around here..

I moved this thread to the Red Sea part

sam miller:
I would no advise any American to travel there under present circumstances.

Sam...wake up....
Egypt is the US one of very few friends in this region of the world....

Jimmy - there is a lot of info here, also about Americans travelling in Egypt.
The dive shops in Sharm I'd recommend are:
Emperor Divers
Camel Divers
Anthias Divers

but I think there is more in the threads....
Sharm is a great place and great diving....

Jimmie--

Can't help you with Sharm. But for what it's worth, my family and I visited the Egyptian Red Sea in summer 2004 and summer 2005. Felt very welcome and safe.

It's true that very, very few Americans visit there any more. Much to the disappointment of the Egyptians there. Sure, they're the ones who have a vested interest in making money, but still... they were very, very happy to see us. The tourist industry there took a big, big hit after 9/11, largely because all the Americans fled.

Shop owner: "Hello Mister, woher kommen Sie? Odkuda Vy? Where you from?"

Me: "Um, from America."

Shop owner: "America?? America! Praise God, you're back!!"

Me: "No, not quite all of us..."

Hell, we could'a gone somewhere really safe... like Madrid or London.
