The 20th Anniversary Citizen Aqualand watch has many features that are found on dive computers - depth gauge, bottom timer, ascent, time and depth alarms, temp sensor, 20-log memory, surface interval timer.... I wonder if anyone would consider using this without a separate dive computer? Seems like a useful all-in-one tool, since it also has time, date, time alarms, world time zones, etc.

I am new to diving and am exploring options.

Cheers.

None of those are that uncommon on the better dive watches at the moment. The main thing that separates a dive watch from a dive computer is the constant recalculation of your no deco/deco time, giving you credit for the shallower portions of your dive otherwise, you're diving tables. If if has that then yeah its a perfectly acceptable replacement for a dive computer, don't know about this particular one. There are many watch-size dive computers out there.

i was looking at that one as well, but as far as i can tell, it won't do nitrox

Just my idea; Buy a 200m WR watch and use it to calculate how long you are underwater (also it will be less expensive) ,
and get a dive computer which will support you under all conditions (e.g. deco)

I've bought myself a cool :14: dive watch and my next target is to buy a dive computer
just my idea..
(I wouldn't trust a watch instead of a dive computer)

I have the 20th Anniversary Citizen Aqualand watch. I LOVE it. It does accurately track max depth, water temperature and dive time. It also has dozens of other cool features, including a surface interval timer and assent rate warning. It works very well as a backup to my computer (ProPlus2). It is NOT a dive computer and does not have Nitrox capabilities. It is essentially a very nice bottom timer and acts like a computer in gauge mode. If I lost it, I would not hesitate to replace it.
