I've been shooting my D200 for a while, but haven't gotten around to taking out my 18-70 kit lens. I tend to shoot alot of macro and when the oppertunity to shoot WA arised, the 16mm is easy and offers good results.
I've tried a few port/ext ring/diopter combinations and finially got it right, with some good advice from the guys at backscatter. For the record, with a Sea & Sea setup:
40mm Ext Ring, +2 diopter works with the NX fisheye dome port (the big one)
Until now, I've only shot prime lenses underwater (16mm, 60mm, 105mm VR)
I really enjoyed the flexability of a mid range zoom. I had no trouble focusing, I did find that the corner sharpness became unacceptable if I was too close to the subject (2-3 ft) so the lens really isn't that good for CF/WA.
Anyway, vis was better than 40ft out at lovers point and it was flatter than a lake, making for a great dive. Here's a few pics:
Take care,
John
