Welcome to the Board.

I have not done much diving on that coast but the springs and bays of Homossa and Crystal river come to mind for some nice bubble time.

You can always go on the search for sharks teeth in the Venice Area beach dives.

Somewhere there is supposse to be army tanks over there but I have never had the opporutinty to see them.

OR you can pack a lunch and spend $120.00 on fuel and dive the east coast.

Welcome to diving and the board.

Don't know about the west coast but if you're looking for some really shallow reef dives...Key Largo. There are reefs as shallow as 5-25 ft. When the wife and I started diving she wanted shallow dives to get comfortable, and I can totally understand that. Learning to walk before you run.

If you have a little bit of cash on hand, you can get a really cheap room (a bed and AC) for $50 a night in the off season and $50 for a 2 tank dive trip. The nice thing I really liked is that we dove with plenty of other divers to continue to learn from (or learn what not to do). Not to mention 85 degree water.

We are doing a shore dive from Anna Maria island (near Sarasota) on the 19th 22 ft max depth and we have several new divers comming. Come join us :)
