I try to dive as much as I can. Mainly quarries although have a few ocean dives and plan to dive the TN river this year. Are you interested in meeting up with other divers from your area? Take care and happy diving. Ray Don Wray May 15th, 2007, 11:40 PM I'm at Sardis Lake....born and raised in Willie World. Tanked Monkey May 16th, 2007, 01:25 AM There are lots of divers in TN. I live in Nashville. Welcome to SB! Keep watching this subforum, there are often posts for divers getting together. Or you can try orgainzing something as well. Are you a certifed diver (your profile says you're not certified)? Mike memphis diver May 16th, 2007, 05:44 AM no i am not, the most i have done is snorkle. was looking to get certified while i went to maui but family came first. whats a good place to get certified becuase i dont think memphis has alot of dive shops tnfireman May 16th, 2007, 05:54 AM Welcome to SB!!!!!! From Northeast TN. Ray PePaw May 16th, 2007, 06:06 AM From Nashville/Clarksville myself. I'd be surprised if there was not a LDS in Memphis, probably more than one. Or you could arrange a nice long three day weekend in Nashville and do your pool and classroom here. Fish_Whisperer May 16th, 2007, 07:37 AM Hello from Shelbyville! (Middle TN) Don Wray May 16th, 2007, 09:44 AM I work for a wonderful instructor in Memphis. We work out of Well Worx on Shelby Oaks. Give Saralynn a call tell her we spoke on this site and we'll fix you up. www.easydiversmemphis.com (http://www.easydiversmemphis.com) There is a list of trips coming up soon locally also. We have 5 classroom sessions plus home study, lots of pool time and lots of personal attention. A new class starts tomorrow night, and I'm sure there are slots left. If you can't make that one, call her and see when the next one is, you can also sign up for a private class. utdivermatt May 16th, 2007, 10:43 AM Hello from another tennessee diver. I am over in East TN for the time, but started in Memphis, and will be back there in a couple of weeks. As for places to get certified, I know of 3 places in the Memphis Area. H20, The Dive Shop, and Easy Divers. I was certified with Easy Divers, and still use Saralynn for everything pretty much. I would highly reccommend her. Actually.... I believe Don wouldnt have known about her if it wasnt for me? ;-) Really though, she is a great instructor, and after working with several different ones, and experiencing the other dive shops in Memphis, I have to say she is the best I have seen. Just give her a call and tell her what you want and I am sure she will take care of you, like Don said. And tell her I sent you... because its more fun that way. I have heard great things about SaraLynn, but have not had the chance to meet her yet. The Dive Shop over off of Yates has certification classes on a regular basis, and they have a boat at Heber Springs that does dive trips all through the summer as well. You might want to check them out. Best of luck to you! memphis diver May 16th, 2007, 02:21 PM thanks guys, i might try to give one of them a call or visit them. good thing i have some time off work. Don Wray May 16th, 2007, 02:33 PM Hi memphis diver, Welcome to ScubaBoard! I live in Memphis too. I have heard great things about SaraLynn, but have not had the chance to meet her yet. The Dive Shop over off of Yates has certification classes on a regular basis, and they have a boat at Heber Springs that does dive trips all through the summer as well. You might want to check them out. Best of luck to you! Which is great if you like zero viz water, and diving with a boat load of people. Both the Dive shop and H20 use Heber for the OW cert. dives. I won't return to Heber due to that and the high volume of boat traffic that have no regard for dive flags. Surfaced 30 yards inside the buoy's one day, 60 yards from the bank and had 4 ski doo's hitting 50 mph dang near take me out after I surfaced. Nope, would quit diving before going back there. Oh, and the dive shop boat was 200 yards away and they had already zoomed over their divers. That's why we use mainly quarry's or the ocean. Landlocked boaters have no idea what is going on. Doc Hock May 18th, 2007, 09:25 PM I am from Pleasant View, which is just between Clarksville and Nashville. Just got back today from Penny Royal in Hopkinsville, KY and water was 48 degrees at 50' and 45 at 74' Fish_Whisperer May 18th, 2007, 09:40 PM Welcome, Doc! 48F? Brrrrrr..... Were you diving dry?
