I noticed six or eight dive parks in the monterey bay area very close to the aquarium.I'm going to be up there at the end of July, can anyone suggest some primo spots to dive?
thx
Robert

Oh yeah will a 5 mil Henderson farmer john be warm enough for that time a year?

Many will say Point Lobos, you have to have reservations for there, 7 mil is what most dive with if they are not diving dry.

I'm not sure about getting all you need about Monterey in one place, but here on :sblogo: you can get a lot of personalized info. Point Lobos has a website,
I'll look for it. You have to have a buddy and certification card to dive there.

Found it http://pt-lobos.parks.state.ca.us/

btw, welcome to ScubaBoard

Average surface water temperature in July would be about 56F, according to the Monterey offshore buoy data.

Check the sites under Monterey on the page:
http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/swell/CDNDiveSites.html

Monastery is a dangerous entrance/exit, and should not be attempted without being accompanied by someone very familiar with the site. Most days, it should still not be attempted.

Pt Lobos, if conditions are moderately good, would be a great choice. Bit of a long surface swim to get to the better parts (out of the low-vis cove).

Breakwater is convenient, but crowded. Restrooms, showers, etc.

Also check out http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/USA_West/CalN/index.htm

There are also a number of dive boats.
