I am looking to purchase an Aladin Tec 2G and would like to save retyping my current dive history, which resides in a Suunto Dive Manager logbook. Has anyone come across an import or conversion utility to allow copying data from Suunto to SmartTRAK?

I have tried exporting the data in all the formats Suunto offers but have not found anything understandable by Uwatec.

Thanks for any input!

I don't believe there is any way to directly import the data. The computers speak a different language and have vastly different data structures. The manufacturers don't seem interested in going out of their way to allow any sort of interoperability.

One way to get around the issue may be to use a third party program like Diving Log (www.divinglog.de), which can import both formats.

I can't speak for the Suunto, but Smart Trak has an option to export data to Excel or to a text file. Perhaps you can do the same thing with the suunto software and keep your log in excel.
Or if the dive manager logbook will accept imports from excel then continue to use DM for your log and export your smart trak logbook as excel files.
