You may have seen the thread on the shows and events forum about the Florida Keys Lobster Rodeo and Safe Dive Expo. Just wanted to get the word out to possible exhibtors that may have been missed by mail that space is still available. Booth space is free.

Dear,
The members of the Florida Keys Safe Diving Initiative would like to include you and your business in our premier event. This event, the Lobster Diving Rodeo and Dive Safety Expo, will be held on Monday, July 23rd, 2007 on the FKCC Key West Campus, located at 5901 College Rd. The Rodeo will run from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. It will combine SCUBA and snorkeling skills stations and games with mini safety briefings. Any business or organization can have a booth at this Rodeo free of charge. Businesses may use the space to promote and conduct sales. The only requirement is that the booth is also used to educate. Every booth must address a boating or diving safety issue such as equipment, regulations or skills and techniques. Please see attached response sheet.
Within the past year, Monroe County has seen numerous SCUBA diving related deaths. This has prompted various public safety organizations, including Coast Guard Group Key West, Florida Keys Community College, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Key West Police Department, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, NOAA Marine Sanctuary, and the Lower Keys Medical Center to form the Florida Keys Safe Diving Initiative. The Initiative’s mission is to reduce the number of SCUBA related deaths through a program of public outreach and education.
The Dive Alive program is taking on a life of its own and is moving forward. We have produced a card with our “Dive Alive” motto to be distributed through out the keys and just finished filming an episode of Waterways scheduled to air in June. Our web page, www.divealive.org, is up and is continuing to evolve. Newspaper articles have appeared and press releases have been picked up by national publications. The cornerstone event of the initiative will be the Lobster Diving Rodeo and Dive Safety Expo.
To secure your booth space, please respond no later than Friday, June 15th, 2007.
Businesses unable to attend can also participate by extending discounts to attendees and donating prizes to be given to participants.
With your help we can make this event a success and hopefully make lobster season a little safer. For more information contact:
