Scubaroo January 6th, 2003, 07:23 PM Can anyone who has bought and downloaded this PDF tell me if it is printable or not? WreckWriter January 6th, 2003, 07:29 PM Yes, it is. I printed mine. About 140 pages I think. WW canuckdiver January 6th, 2003, 07:29 PM sounds interesting, where are you downloading it from? Scubaroo January 6th, 2003, 07:42 PM The GUE (http://www.gue.com/classroom/manuals.shtml) website. It's $14.95, after which you have 10 days to access and download it. SPEEDSTER January 6th, 2003, 08:05 PM WreckWriter once bubbled... Yes, it is. I printed mine. About 140 pages I think. WW I will second that, in color too if you want. M Scubaroo January 6th, 2003, 08:14 PM Sounds like a late evening in the office coming up :) nradov January 6th, 2003, 10:53 PM After I downloaded it from GUE I uploaded the file back to Kinko's web site and had them print it double sided and put on a spiral binding with plastic covers. Much easier to read that way. http://www.kinkos.com/ -Nick detroit diver January 6th, 2003, 11:02 PM nradov once bubbled... SPEEDSTER January 7th, 2003, 12:57 PM I did the same thing, except I just printed it out one sided, then spiral bound it. (Nice clear cover to show the 'actual' cover) The double sided idea is great! Did they have to mail it, or can you pick it up at a local Kinko's? detroit diver January 7th, 2003, 01:07 PM $15.50. No charge for pickup. I don't know what they charge to ship. I sent it last nite, and it was ready this morning at 9:45am. I think you can get same day if done early enough. LiveGoat January 7th, 2003, 08:57 PM Are they ever going to release this manual in paperback form like the Fundamentals book? The GUE site has been saying later this year forever. ---Goat detroit diver January 7th, 2003, 11:52 PM I don't know, but I don't think it's a high priority. They've got so much going on right now that this must be low on the totem pole. kcanty January 8th, 2003, 11:02 AM Hey has anyone here printed the GUE cave PDF? I've done the tech manual fine but the cave PDF has an odd size page ( #66 with the silt type comparison pictures ) that makes kinkos want to do custom. I'm assuming that I cannot resize or modify the PDF in any way even though it's just a page size? Has anyone done the custom thing w/kinkos? If no one has I'll go ahead but I don't want a large custom upcharge from them for 1 silly page! Kell wb416 January 8th, 2003, 11:23 AM kcanty once bubbled... Kell I printed the Cave and Tech PDF's out double-sided on my laser printer, and they both printed fine. Page 66 (figure 7.1) printed fine also. wb WreckWriter January 8th, 2003, 11:23 AM I printed mine on a regular LaserJet. It worked fine. Tom detroit diver January 8th, 2003, 11:29 AM I thought I remembered that you could size to fit a standard page when going thru the ordering process. Then again, I could be wrong! nickjb January 8th, 2003, 11:40 AM The other suggestions sound better but... You can edit a pdf. Either use one of the many freeware pdf editors out there or use the full version of Adobe Acrobat. Not sure about the legality of editing a published document. You could always ask GUE for permission if you like. detroit diver January 8th, 2003, 11:43 AM nickjb once bubbled... The other suggestions sound better but... You can edit a pdf. All of the GUE .pdf's are locked and not editable. vodolaz March 2nd, 2003, 10:14 PM I uploaded both the Cave and Tech manuals to Kinkos (took about a day and a half on dialup - okay, maybe an hour), but had a few problems. The first was the one mentioned above about the Cave manual needing custom printing. The second was that Kinkos' automated program wanted $14.00 for b&w printing, but $140.00 for it doublesided in color. C'mon, there are only a handful of color pages in the whole book! Finally, the software claimed that the manuals were too big to be bound. Luckily I happened to stop by the local OfficeMax/CopyMax. They did both manuals doublesided and in color for about $15.00 each, and quickly too. Thanks, guys! DIR Tec Diver March 11th, 2003, 04:27 PM I printed mine double sided and in color with no problems. I went into the printer properties and selected the option "fit on page" and it worked like a charm. Enjoy Cave Diver March 11th, 2003, 09:50 PM I just downloaded the Tech Diving Fundies file and took it to Office Depot and had it printed and bound. Cost me in the neighborhood of $15 to print and bind.
