What is the best destination and liveaboard for Sept-October pelagic diving close to the US? I'm looking for some good non-choregraphed shark diving and other pelagics. Specific boats would be helpful.

Flower Garden Banks would probably fit your description. The only boats I know of running trips there are the Flee and the Spring. I believe the time you're looking at would be their whale shark season, although I could be wrong on that.

Sept.-Oct. of this year? Next year you might look into the JASA (http://www.scuba-adventures.com/)trips out of Florida since I'd guess they're all sold out this year. Depends on your definition of non-choreographed, I think they do chum/feed the tigers...
