I am going to be using a Maximus as a pony reg for a while and I was wondering about the dry bleed system.

If I pressurize the line by opening the valve on teh tank and then close it will the dry bleed system bleed the air out of the line or cannot it not go that way. Is it just inside the first stage and after it goes through the first stage the line will stay pressurized.

Is there any advantage to leaving the valve open with the maximus so that the bleed system can work or does it not matter since I will not be breathing off of it?

Thanks
Phil

I spoke to our technician, and here is what he said.

If you pressurize your regulator and then shut it off the air will pass through the Dry Air Bleed. The hose will not stay charged. Although the amount is minimal (13-27cc per minute). Eventually, all the air in the first stage and hose will expel through the dry air bleed.

His recommendation is that if you are using the Maximus as your Pony Reg, open the valve and leave it open during the dive. You will not lose enough air where it would be an issue.

Safe diving,
