I passed my tests for my 100 Ton Master/Mate license last night, three days earlier than planned, so I have some weekend time to fool around, and even pick up my new Transpac II which is waiting for me in Kahului.

Now all I need is someone to dive with while I try it out. All my usual buddys are busy.

Seangel, if you guys are checking the board on a laptop or whatever, give me a call or email.

Aloha,

Jonathan

So what do we call you now...Master Jon?

Congratulations Jonathan errrr Captain!!

Wish I could be there to celebrate with you by doing a dive. Be there in less than 90 days so save some times for me ;-)

Just got back from diving Casino Point at Catalina Island, WOW! Saw 2 HUGE Giant Black Sea Bass. Over 6 feet long had to go for at least 300 lbs. They caught me off guard and I didn't have my strobe on, when they came back I got a shot off but I was far enough away that I doubt they will come out. I will be getting the film developed tomorrow and if it comes out I will post a site to see them.

Again, congrats, go have a mai tai with some of that good Maui pineapple.

We'll have to get together when you get here, Socal. Sounds like you had fun today in the water. I've never seen a big sea bass.

I went for a long beach swim early this morning with Helen at Makena, and then spent a while picking up and putting together my new Dive Rite rig. The day disappeared on me before I could test it in the water. Probably Tuesday afternoon I'll take it out. It sure feels comfy on dry land.

Aloha,

JOnathan

Yes, outside the 3 mile limit I can wed, keelhaul or flog, whichever punishment is suitable.

I once got suckered into performing a wedding for a friend in Woodstock, N.Y. At midnight the bride, who had gotten roaring drunk, ran off with her analyst and they crashed the groom's new BMW 5 series sedan in the middle of the town green.

I think my talents lie elsewhere.

Sounds like you are doing some good over there, Gasman. Don't back down. Drinking & diving is bad news.

Aloha,

Jonathan

Congratulations and I am so sorry I didn't get to call you while in Maui. We were on a much tighter schedule than I had anticipated, so much to see and do with so little time. I did get in 6 dives though and thought your backyard or front as the case may be was super! I did have a traumatic intro though at Black Rock. The current was much, stronger than anticipated on Sunday the 24th. I had to get assistance to make it back to shore. But all other dives went really well. We had a lap top with us but no access to internet. Lot of good that was. I hope to come back again next summer. Looking forward to return. Trying to convince my hubby that Maui is the place to retire. Oh, well even if he doesn't agree I will keep coming back. I just took my 4 rolls of film in to be developed. My first underwater attempts at photography. I fell in love with the Lani Cathederals thought they were the most awesome sight to behold. I did like Molokini but the cathederals win out as #1 for my experience. Mahalo for all your support and thoughts about me. Cindy
