Diving in Lake Simcoe?

Good evening.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Toronto and Barrie, ON to visit her family. We will be travelling somtime in the Spring.

Her aunt and uncle live in Barrie, which is right on Lake Simcoe.

I know very little about the area and was wondering if the lake is worth diving.

Thanks in advance for your help.

not too familiar with simcoe, but heard that there are a few good dives, I believe one is called the Morrison.

when you get to toronto, however, you are only about an hour and a half from us in the quite area, real good wreckdiving!
look me up when you get here!

If you can't get down to the St. Lawrence, the Waome might be a better alternative for you near Barrie in Lake Muskoka (Gravenhurst) ....

Nice wall dive not far from the Waome can finish a two tank dive nicely...

P.S. If you're a runner, do the Barrie lake front in the evening, trails take you around the horseshoe bay. Beautiful setting....

But be prepared for chilly nasty darkness. THAT is a cold dark dive. I shiver just thinking about. And if you do the wall dives near by, watch for falling rocks... (isn't that right mike? ).

I remember watching those rocks go by with rapt fascination, of course, no thought of what or who caused those rocks to fall crossed my mind, just thinking that I was glad not to be one of the guys with doubles slinking along below the avalanche....

Note to logbook, put "Watch out for Falling Rocks" sign at next dive at Lake Muskoka....and always be the diver on top of the wall going down. Maybe a rock climbing helmut is a good idea for diving....
