G9 for wide angle shots

Ok, so I should have posted this in my reply to the flooded housing post (please read if you have the time), but I'm thinking about getting a new G9 and am curious how it shoots for wide angle shots. As far as I know, there isn't a wide angle wet lens attachment available (maybe unless you get the Ikelite housing), but how are the non-macro shots. I only ask because I know it's capable of producing amazing shots in the right hands (aka Ed_Dman), but I only remember seeing crazy macro shots from him. Anyone have experience with the general reef scenes or wreck shots?
