Does anyone know of a source for small waterproof luggage tags that I could tie on to my gear to identify it as mine? I'm thinking of something that is about 1"x2" that I could zip tie to my BC, regulator, tank, etc.

And perhaps put a DAN sticker in one with my info.

Mike,

I know DAN used to offer something like this, wlthough when I went on their web site today, the only product I saw was a metal "dog tag" that includes just your name, your DAN member # and the DAN phone #. Check Alert Diver magazine and look in there -- you might be able to find them (I think the mag offers more products than the web site).

I know of nothing like this.

All you need is a small piece of the plastic they make slates out of (with a suitable hole for a tie wrap), and a permanent marker pen to write you ID on.

Any takers?

TexasMike,
When we had our shop (way back in the stone age) that is exactly how we identified our BCs and regulators. What we used was a standard laminated luggage tag with our business card on one side and a reward offer on the other.

We made them for our customers for $1.50 each as well.

Send me your business card and a self addressed stamped envelope and I will make you one for free.

Try using livestock ear tags and the correct marker pens - the ear tag pens are chemical based, permanently etch the eartag, they're very unique, stand out in a crowd of other gear, and won't fade. You can permanently attach them with plastic lock ties. My sister has been using them as luggage tags for international travel for a specialised tour services company she has been running for a number of years now, and swears by them. And they're cheap.

(Yes I grew up on a farm).
