Water was VERY green in the bay last week, fresh water runoff from the recent rains. The most interesting thing I saw was a group of kids from a Kern County middle school on a field trip. There is a tremendous amount of life on the floating docks, like a man-made tidepool. The kids lie down on the dock and look at the stuff just under the waterline, while a teacher tries to tell them what they are looking at. The squeals and "ooohs and aaahs" are priceless:

Cool worms. Water sure does look green. I think that fellow on the sign is about the size of the guy who was hanging around Monterey a few months back, visited a couple of divers and took a bite out of a surfer off Marina Beach.
