Any diving near Rio, Brazil?

Are there any interesting diving nearby Rio? I will be there on a business trip september 2008 and have the possibility to add a two or three holiday-days to the trip.

Two choices: head south to Angra dos reis and Ilha Grande or North to Arraial do Cabo.

you'll get a number of hits.
When we go to Ilha Grande we normally stay at the pousada Nautilus, owner Cazu.

You can find the information on the

There are a lot of useful information and I spent 6 days on the Ilha grande during Carnival, very nice place.

there are mainly two diving centers:ELITE DIVE CENTER and DIVE & CIA ILHA GRANDE,
as far as I know, ELITE DIVE CENTER have two instructors and two divemasters, DIVE & CIA ILHA GRANDE just have two divemasters.
But the quotation of DIVE & CIA ILHA GRANDE(about R$135~150 per day, 2 dive, all the equipments and one free dive-record CD) is cheaper than ELITE DIVE CENTER(about R$ 160~190 per day, 2 dive, all the equipments).
You can check and decide by yourself.

The places mentioned above are great places to dive but if you are short on time. I recommend Mar do Rio at Marina do Gloria in Rio. They do trips on Friday, Sat and Sun to the nearby islands. Very professional operation and some great people to dive with.

They water is not always as nice as Arrial or Angra but Marina do Gloria is only a short cab ride from downtime Rio. Can message me before you come down maybe I can meet you there for a dive.
