Read in the paper that the First Dude took a header into a steel drum while riding in the Iron Dog. He broke his arm in the process of flying some 70 feet through the air. He then finished the remaining 400 miles of the race with the broken arm. It wasn't cast until he got to Fairbanks, according to the paper.

The paper didn't say, but I assume when he visited the clinic out there they put some kind of splint on the arm Even so, and even if it was only a crack, that had to be painful!

Now that is Tough!

The Governor's response that he was a big boy and could take care of himself was classic Old Time Alaskan.
