I am wondering if anyone has an Uwatec elctronic compass or any other brands, if they make them. Are these any good? No problem using a regular Compass, it just looks like a neat little toy. Looking for opinions or any info.

All the electronic compasses I have used are not that great. The worst thing about them is that they don't function as nicely as a good old fashioned liquid filled compass. The electric ones have a poor....refresh rate....I guess for lack of a better term.

With a "old" compass I can sloooowly adjust my course degree by degree watching my compass update instantly. Whereas with an electronic compass they update less regularly so it's much harder to get your minute course adjustments.

The compass on my GPS does an almost perfect job of acting like a real compass but it's far from it. The Uwatec compass that I used was nowhere close. I would say stick with a regular compass - they are much nicer.
