Occasionaly, and always after the fact, I hear about a project somewhere, counting fish, building a reef, measuring a ship wreck....where volunteer divers were needed. HOW do you find out about these opportunities BEFORE the fact rather than after. Does anyone know of a place to look for requests for assistance??

I'd like to participate too, but same problem.
Maybe someone will have some insite into
the problem.

I belong to a dive club that is very active in some of the type of projects you mentioned - they do reef cleanups, REEF fish IDs and counts, alien algae cleanup projects, etc.

They always send out a club newsletter a few weeks in advance to let everyone know. They always combine "just for fun" dives and a potluck get together afterwards.

I subscribe or receive free 4 or 5 magazines a month. I read them voraciously - all those announcements come out months ahead.
