18 year old free diver dead; body recovered

Monroe County - The body of an 18 year old free diver from Dunedin, Florida was recovered from the waters offshore of Bahia Honda today just before noon.

Sheriff's Homicide Detective and Dive Team Leader Mark Coleman found 18 year old Joshua Choi on the bottom in about 75 feet of water at 11:40 a.m. An autopsy will be done tomorrow to confirm the cause of his death. He was reportedly boating with his father, brother and friends late Thursday. He was free diving (diving without tanks) to about 75 feet when he failed to surface. The Coast Guard was notified and they responded along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Sheriff's Office. They all searched but failed to find him.
