I removed my Suuntos depth gauge from the huge console (w/ compasee and comp) and now it's free with just a thin plastic ring around it. Is it safe to use or too fragile?

I would NOT use it without being in a boot. Just a little too fragile. being plastic and all... Suunto does make a nice little rubber/ hard plastic boot for it. I think they are only like twenty bucks or sumthin like that. Interestingly enough, I think East Coast Divers sells them... Its just the first piece of their new "modular" gauge console system. Check out the site at http://www.sea-quest.com/pages/dcomp/dc_sboots.html. The picture is there with the boot and pressure gauge... Good Luck and Happy Diving!!!
