Anyone know where I can get a pin for attaching a spring strap to a Jet fin? I purchsed the Halcyon spring straps and one of the pins was the wrong length.
Thanks in advance.

Why dont you contact halcyon and have them send you the right pin. www.halcyon.net Marvintpa February 17th, 2003, 04:21 PM I've done that, no response yet. I was hoping to use them this weekend, but since the old pins are destroyed in the removal process, thanks to Halcyon I now have unuseable fins. Did they tell you to tear up the old ones without checking the new ones first? They'll make it right I'm sure. WW Dryglove February 17th, 2003, 04:29 PM Marvintpa once bubbled... Well that totally sucks. Is there any place near you that sells halcyon products and might warrantee the pin for you.I realize that is a long shot unless you try to rig something out of bailing wire or try to make your own pin at a machine shop or something. WW I agree you should always check your new stuff before tearing up your old parts but you would think halcyon would give you the right stuff. As WW said im sure they will make it right as they have done for me when i had a problem with their gear.Just sucks you cant use your fins for the weekend. WreckWriter February 17th, 2003, 04:34 PM lal7176 once bubbled... unless you try to rig something out of bailing wire or try to make your own pin at a machine shop or something. a stainless cotter pin should do the trick. WW Jimmy B February 17th, 2003, 04:42 PM If you bought them from NTD, I bet that they'll replace it for nothing, My light crapped out and no questions asked, Fixed and shipped back to me. JB dmdalton February 17th, 2003, 06:13 PM Check your LDS for Jet Fin type replacement buckles. The pin should be the same, in fact I surprised that the one you have is too short. I'm sure you checked and it isn't that the "U" piece is spread apart, is it? Dave D Marvintpa February 17th, 2003, 07:01 PM Yes, it's not just that the U-piece is spread apart. The other three went on lickity-split, but this pin barely pokes out beyond the rubber through which it passes. These straps come in a kit, and given the price of the kit you'd figure they could get four pins the same size. Having said that, yes, I shoulda checked first. You're right, it should have been right to start with. I have no doubt they will send you the proper part quickly but probably not quick enough for the weekend. Your local hardware or marine supply shop will have a stainless steel cotter pin that will give you a temporary fix. Get the thickest that will fit in the hole in the U-brackets and pull it down as far as you can before bending it. This will work, I've seen it done. WW dmdalton February 17th, 2003, 08:34 PM Or you can lose the "U" thingy and pins and replace them with 1/8" stainless rod/wire like I used to make mine. See: http://www.deeperstuff.com/spring-strap.htm That's what George I. told my dive buddy to do when he showed him the Halcyon straps he bought, and his weren't defective. Assuming you keep the straps, stake down the pin ends, I have seen them come off when folks don't. Dan will more then likely have replacement clips for ya... Give him a call and ask.... www.divetech.ca Marvintpa February 19th, 2003, 10:05 AM To all those who felt personally violated that Halcyon could be capable of committing an error: they have very politely responded to my concern and offered to send out a replacement pin to make the situation right.
