Dive Rite Nitek2

Hello!
I just bought a DR Nitek2 computer to use as a bottom timer (mainly because it was dirt cheap).
What do you think of this computer, any experiences?

I borrowed one recently. As a dive computer it is about on the same conservatism level as Uwatec computers. For those of us with aging eyes, the numbers are a bit small, except for depth.

anyone have any info on a DIY interface for dive rite computers? I haven't ever seen any plans for them anywhere and wondered if they exist. I'd thought about getting one as a backup to my cobra possibly.

I wondered why the interface is ridiculosly expensive (in fact cost more than i paid for the computer)
I think the answer is in the manual: the interface reads the data from the computer optically from the lcd display- no electrical contact.
Probably quite difficult to do a DIY interface
