Any others of you out there in public safety get your tanks filled at the Fire Dept? Was talking with them this morning (our fire dept is right next door to the police dept) and they said "Sure!" Problem is...their tanks all use DIN fittings. Is there an adapter out there? Just curious

I get my air at the Fire Dept. I volunteer at. All I had to do was buy the adapter. I bought the adapter at www.breathingair.com.

Check with the fire dept. They probably have a vendor for their compressor that can get the part for you also.

If I remember the adapter was about 50 bucks.

A couple of things to check first. Make sure the air at the FD has been tested and make sure that it is Grade E or better. Most FD have their air tested biannually. Check the service records to verify the compressor has filters and oil changed regulary. I have seen some FD that don't change filters and oil enough. Most FD Air Packs use either a CGA 346 or 347 fitting to fill with. These are not DIN fittings. I have adapters made so that I can fill a DIN or yoke scuba tank from a FD system. The adapters are easily made but cost a few bucks. Good luck

Our air is tested quarterly here. I actually have 2 adapters also.

One adapts the scba filler to a scuba yoke filler,

and another to adapt the scba filler to a scuba din filler.

I couldn't find the proper parts around here to make them, so I bought them both at the link above.

Good luck all!

Thanks a ton for the info. Going to check out the adapters here in a bit and see what I can come up with.
