Any thoughts BBQ somewhere this summer?...Might be fun to do. I know we won't be able to get everyone together, but if most of us could do it......
Give it some thoughts and lets post some suggestions.

Count me in!!!!!!!!!!!
If needed, I'll place my cottage at the disposal of the group for a BBQ if anyone is interested in some diving in Brockville.
We should try to set a date(s) asap. I suspect I'll be busy being a Divemaster this coming summer, so it would be nice to have an idea of what day(s) to book off.
Maybe a small get together in Kingston for a drink in the next short while is in order to help set a day. I always like a face to face meeting to settle things once and for all.
Cheers, Taz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cool! That will work well!
The advantage with mine is that we can throw a steel tank into it from a distance without worrying about hurting anything.
the advantage with yours is that we can be at the dive site in 5 seconds flat! LOL

LOL!!!
Your right that is for sure! A fibreglass hull and steel tanks don't really mix that well.
How about if you take half of the divers to the Daryaw ( Just around the corner from the cottage ) and I can take a group of 5 to the Keystorm on one day then we can do the reverse on the next day?

Diving, camping, and boating in the same sentence... It doesn't matter who said it, I'm definitely in!
Usual caveats on time and money apply, but given good advance notice, I can probably arrange the time. And I've got a couple of non-board friends who'd probably want to join in as well (assuming space limitations)
Can't make a face-to-face meet in kingston to decide on plans though. Well, not easily... again, given enough lead-time, things may change :)
My one request would be to select somewhere convenient to a wide variety of skill-level sites, since we'll probably have everyone from newbies to the hard-core.
As for bugs and weather... Anything after mid-may gets pretty buggy until about late august. Before then the waters probably clearer, but colder. After then, warmer but murkier. <grin> Or we get ambitious and do both.

well, both locations (brockville, and the east side of prince edward county) offer good dives for all skill levels.
At ducks, there is a barge, and an old diving bell right in front in 60' of water, good shore dives both.
Brockville is taz's nieghborhood, but if memory serves me, lots of good shore dives there as well, including a good rock wall.
None of the dives will be difficult in nature, unless that is specifically requested, and we can always set that up as a side trip for those that want it.

Next two weekends are out for me as far as a meeting but you guys could get together. I will work in the background if I have to. We just really need to get this set up and have firm commitments from people. Put a big red X on the calander and take the bull by the horns. Talk amongst yourselves and we will get the ball(beach ball) rolling. ;)

No can do this weekend...I am up in London for hockey...My son is playing inthe All Ontario finals...(Actually north in Ilderton <sp>). But hey in the future ????...Who knows....I think a quik get together for some would be ideal. This summer is going to be busy I am also doing my DM, so weekends and my wifes patience will be at a premium. .....I guess we should just pick a date and book it. ( for the coffee get together), and then do the same for the summer day.
Taz<?> thanks for the offer of your place and Canuckdiver for the boat. Sounds like fun. I would suggest the early part of August, for both bugs and visability reasons.......

LOL.. That reminds me of a something I was asked in a divestore once...I went to my LDS and bought a ton of gear.. some of the stuff was an impulse buy.. my friends asked me.. "You're not married are you?!".. My answer was "nope.. or I couldn't afford to dive :) "
I know a few folks who have very understanding wifes/husbands... Its not easy dating a diver.. they are never home and usually lug several hundred pounds of gear around :) But we are fun :)

I've enjoyed reading the comments many OFWF have written and admire the special connection you share.
Since I've signed onto this forum, I've learned it is lonely living in Central NY:(
I boat out of Henderson Harbor, in Lake Ontario, so I'm not too far from the border. I'm not sure how far away, the dive sites you have mentioned, are from where I live, but if they are within reach of my travels, I would humbly ask if a central NY diver would ever be welcomed to join in the fun with the OFWF?:)

If your going to run across the lake, make sure you check in first., or if you tow your boat you can most ilkely park it a the dock at Northern Tech Diver.
They let people do that with no problems and then you get to Tim's and/or Tommy's

What kind of drysuit do you have? Do you have dry goves for it?
I got a nice suit and some toasty undies, but I still need to get some fry gloves to match.. I dove with wet gloves until the water was around freezing.. had to stop 'cause I couldn't move my fingers.. LOL
We have open water around here.. Chippawa Creek and the upper niagara river.. Just in case you want to try out your suit..
