I was asked to introduce myself to all the divers from Ontario, so hello out there. I have just written my PADI test and passed (insert happy dance here), now I only have my 4 OW dives. I love the sport more then any of you can possibly imagine. I sleep, eat and breath it (through my mouth, of course). My dive partner is Canuckdiver (wonderful, patient man). Anything else I left out? There is some but not sure I want it posted here ;) . You know who I am if you want to contact me. Would love to hear from any diver in eastern Ontario, or from anywhere for that matter. Final last words: DIVE DIVE DIVE. :D

:D Remember who you're talking to! You posted to a scuba forum where divers have 100's and even 1000's of dives. ....so we CAN possibly imagine!
Hopefully someday you'll find out why we STILL love it more than you can imagine... the original thrill and excitement have only deepened... and many of our friendships are intertwined with diving where only another diver can understand why we "keep going back under."
Welcome to the UW world!

That's recommendation enough for me. Any friend of his is a friend of mine as well.

I do know all divers love it, or they wouldn't be in it. I am just really really excited about joining the ranks. Not much has sparked this much joy in my life in a very long time. Now I just have to get my kids going too. :)

Hi Marie,
it took you a while to get to this forum.
Congratulations with the exam! Where did you do your OW dives - it is so cold out there now.
Oh, and if something left that you can say but not in this forum - say it in another one!;)

I still have all OW dives to do, I just wrote the test. Didn't mean to mislead you at all. And no Jason, there isn't anything like the first time. :out:

Hello cobaltbabe...
Did you know that diving is addictive?! Well it is.. And don't let anyone tell you different :)
I started last July and I am 70 dives into it.. Actually its more than that, but I stopped logging quarry dives :)
Just got back from my first live aboard dive vacation.. It was amazing..
When are you doing your open waters and where?
cobaltbabe
March 10th, 2003, 05:17 PM
When I first came in here, I was amazed at how passionate everyone seemed about it, and although I am really green right now as far as scuba, I am just as passionate. I am taking my 4 OW in the Belleville dive clubs quarry. Not sure where it is. I will let you know though

Hey there:
First of all welcome to the board and welcome to the best recreational sport out there. I'm sure you will do fine on your open waters. Just take your time and have alot of fun with it. We all do this sport for the fun and adventures we have while we dives. So make sure you have alot of both.
Again welcome to the board and have a great time diving.

Welcome to the Board.
I'm sure you have a great time and since you have a dive buddy that loves to dive, I'm sure you'll be spending a fair bit of time in the water.
Hope he's doing ok after his little accident a few weeks ago.
Cheers, Taz!
BTW, you and Adam are welcome to spend sometime diving from my boat this year. I think a nice dive on the Gaskin is in the cards!

Thank you very much Taz,
I look forward to meeting you sometime this summer. We are diving this Saturday with some local divers. Nothing like jumping in both frozen feet first.

We will have to get a pile of divers together and have a group dive and then a bbq. It would be nice to see and meet everyone. We will take PICTURES and then post them to see if the other divers can figure out who matches which user name. Fun can be had by all.

Well, I guess what everyone is saying is they want to get together. Well between my dive partner and my friends at the board and myself I think we can make some arrangements. Maybe a private beach someplace where we don't have to worry about anything. Let me put things together and we will see what we can do. Should we bring families as well or just a diver weekend. Should we invite any other divers who are willing to make the trip or Canadian divers? I need to know numbers to make the arrangements. ;)

Always good to get together......We should put a mark on the calender....
cobaltbabe
March 10th, 2003, 08:14 PM
That is a wonderful idea Butch. First the date, then numbers, and then we will find a place big enough or small enough for all of us. With something like this there's alot to arrange. Does anyone like tents, Big fires or do we stay with a cabin/cottage kind of deal. Things to think about. We will have to talk amongst ourselves. I will contact Canuckdiver sometime tomorrow. I know he will be in.

Tent's are cool.. so are big fires.... And some water close by to go diving :) Add some food and its the perfect weekend..
cobaltbabe
March 10th, 2003, 08:28 PM
Rock on Sparky,
I don't mind tents either, as long as the people in the tent beside you keep it down. ;) Like I said once we get some numbers we will get a core group together and sort out the details. Man this is fun.
Butch103
March 10th, 2003, 08:45 PM
on where you want to go...George and Susans (Duck's Dive) has the cottages, fire pits, and night diving , fill station.......Depends on a lot...... ....These are all important things. Also we could charter their boat, and do some dives.....For the newer divers behind the dive shop , down the hill there is reasonable diving, couple of small "wrecks" and a dive habitat.....
sparky30
March 10th, 2003, 08:46 PM
Tent's are fun.. I had a lot of 'firsts' in a tent.. first time drunk.. first time camping, first .....
At the time I wished I had a bigger tent.. Fortunately the folks sitting around the fire were making enough noise so nobody noticed :)
These days my camping is confined to dive trips.. my LDS usually organizes a couple of trips to Kingston every year.. What a riot..
cobaltbabe
March 10th, 2003, 08:52 PM
Not that it is a bad thing trust me ;) So we will set a date. Everyone look at your calanders, pick sometime without bugs and think about what kind of features you would like the place we are going to have. Also think about if you want families or just divers. And should we or can we invite other divers to come.
I think you guys have been waiting for an ambitious newby to come along and arrange this kind of thing for a while. Well I accept the challenge. ;-0

now, lets see, what dates to pick.....
how about any weekend between say may and october?? LOL
camping weekends are cool, and looks like my boat will be docked somewhere in the same area as ducks, so this could work out well ;)
so far, this summer is looking good guys, we seem to have a good group of people in this area that can get together regularly to get some serious dive time in!
for the people that have to travel to get here (yes, this means you, aquabella,taz22,divinggal) looks like it's gonna be well worth the drive!

Good morning boys and girls,
Well, I spoke to Canuckdiver last night and with any luck we or I can get this off the ground. Maybe instead of doing this on the board we should get together for "Coffee" and get some serious planning going. It's hard arranging something that could be big over a chat site. Let me know your thoughts and lets roll with it. Anyone other then myself and Adam want to help?

Welcome to the gang as you've discovered we're a friendly bunch. Most willing to do a bit of traveling to meet and greet (and oh yes go diving!)
Go forth and organize something, as you can see, you already have plenty of interest. Like Aquabella I've already got sometime reserved (for diving trips), but I'll be there if I can.

Hi DivingGal,
I am very excited and have been swamped with the above water aspect of scuba for months now. With Canuckdiver as a buddy I don't have a choice, not that I mind, I am just as eager to get out there as he is. I would love to meet as many of you as possible this summer.

Spreading the word is a good idea, we do need to decide if we are inviting other divers from other places though. Do we just invite Ontario divers or open it up. Maybe we could ask a mediator to put a general alert over all the posts and direct them to us. "COME TO ME MY CHILDREN, HAHAHAHAHA" ROFLMAO.

A weekend with people who enjoy the same things you do. A full day of diving if you want. A roaring fire to cuddle by at night. Good food, good company, good fun (notice I didn't say clean) may take some of cat's suggestions ;) I know there are a few out there who are interested, so lets spread the word and make this reality. I don't want to be sitting on that beach alone. ;-0
