If you're talking about the aeris knife, it attaches in the two grommets at the top of the side pocket on either side. The little plate unscrews from the scabbard (knife holder) and then you place the plate inside the pocket and screw through the plate and the grommet holes into the back of the scabbard. It's a little tough to get the screws in and be sure snug them up but not to over tighten them. When installed it will sit parallel to the zipper on the pocket. I put mine with the handle facing forward and the point facing to the rear on the right side, since I'm left handed.
 
Thats what I thought, but I'm having the hardest time trying to screw the screws in since I only have so much slack when I open the pocket.
 
Yes, it is tight. I used a stubby screw driver and that seemed to work pretty well. It's still a bit of a struggle.
