Dive destination suggestions for a novice Aussi

Hi all,

I would be greatful for some suggested dive locations in Australia for mid-year school holidays to take my 14yo son and do a dive course(no previous experience except snorkelling) and have some good one on one father son time. I have looked at Heron Island and Exmouth Western Australia. Exmouth looks to have more possibilities with other activities.

Other alternative could be to go to South Pacific, but perhaps too inexperienced and pricey.

Suggestions of locations and where to stay appreciated.

Where do you live? This is very relevant to where you should go, as many destinations are similar for new divers.
