Greetings to one and all...
I am looking into buying a used Sea & Sea YS-110 at a really good price, and it's in great condition.
However, while looking at the specs on the Sea & Sea website, I just noticed that this strobe has been discontinued.
Does anyone out there know why???
I don't mind buying one, however if it was discontinued because of known defects or problems, I don't want to inherit someone else's headache.
Thanks as usual for your responses.

Hi
Read this thread on th board
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/sea-sea/237426-anomalous-ys-110-strobe-operation-when-shooting-1g-camera-dx-1g-housing-2.html
The YS-110 has in general been a good strobe. I sometimes mail order from Hong Kong (much better prices, great guy I deal with, but high shipping costs). He informed me the YS-110 was being discontinued about 8 days ago. He has sold a lot of YS-110's with a good return policy and has gotten very few back - no more than with other strobes he sells like the YS-27 or Inon strobes (D2000 & Z240). For what it is worth, Sea & Sea told him there would be a replacement strobe in August with additional features including digitial TTL (what ever that is - Ikelite protocol? or native Canon or Nikon protocols?).
Hope this helps.

Henry....
Thanks for the input and all the great information, very insightful, really appreciate it.
And ditto on Hong Kong, that's where I was going to buy it. :-)

Hi

Put me at the front of the line if Sea and Sea makes this happen. I have used the YS-110 with two different cameras in manual, and I can find not fault with the strobe. If Sea and Sea can produce a strobe that is as good as the YS-110, and is compatible with Ikelite's TTL circuitry...Sea and Sea will be siting on a gold mine.

Sea and Sea will be siting on a gold mine.
Given the way Sea&Sea has responded to the YS-110/DX-1G issue, there’ll get no more of my hard earned gold.

Interesting post as I just dumped my YS 90s in favor of the Inon 2000. Using the optical fiber on my DX1g with the YS90s I got very inconsistent flashes. I bought the Inon and immediately got positive results as they are designed for optical cable. Which leads me to this... I have two YS90s that just became available. One is a TTL Auto and the other is the TTL DUO. both for $600.00. I think these are great strobes as long as they are used with a sync cord. I just ordered my second Inon and can't wait to see their performance as a duo. Great price on those YS90s if anyone is interested.
