i just go the new tusa (http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/CategoryID_1985/Context_954/Sort_Stock/DescSort_0/Filter_1%3d1996/TBTIQ800.html?Hit=1).

pretty good. Alot of good stuff for a new diver. vibrating alarms for ascent rate and safety stop. You can also use it for nitrox when the time comes. Not too expensive either. The mares m2 also looks interesting.

I like the Palagic pucks. (Aeris, Oceanic, others). Reasonably priced and the puck can be moved from wrist mount to console.
Particularly like the Oceanic/Aeris because I have had great customer service with them.
Of the 2, Oceanic seems easier to read, but costs a bit more. If you shop around, you can get some nice deals on the VEOs.

Ditto for the Oceanic/Aeris. Splitlip is right on the nose. Customer service is excellent, and they give good bang for the buck.

Oceanic puter's are pretty darn good ... I'm not AI so hence the old Versa Pro. My friends have Atom's and VT 3's. And I do like the VT 3 which I'll go to next for rec diving.

Check out the Mares Nemo Wide. Gigantic numbers so my old eyes can see them, reasonably priced, nitrox to 40%. Not AI. And rumor has it coming out with multiple gas switching soon via a software upgrade.

I believe the Dive Rite Nitek Duo, Cresi Archimedes, TUSA, and Zeagle N2ition are all the same basic computer made buy Seiko. Small differences in the display is about it. Great computers. Easy to read, easy to use, air and nitrox. Allow you to plan and simulate your dives. Can get a generic connector cable to connect to the PC. Each companies software is a free download. They are all priced well.
