My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon for 2009. We're pretty adventurous and we're looking for a diving holiday. Our trip will be in March or April of 2009 for approximately 14 days. We were thinking about starting the trip by booking 5 days at Dive VIP in Puerto Galera and then "playing it by ear" from there for the remainder of the trip so we can go where the diving is best. Our goal is to dive as much as possible and to have a reasonably priced vacation. We are coming from Phoenix, Arizona.
Any recommendations are appreciated!
Thanks,
T

Puerto Galera is a great place to start. Try Action Divers; Dive Puerto Galera, Dive Philippines, Dive Action Divers They can arrange acomodations if you like. Puerto Galera has the most varied diving you can find; rec.; tech.; wreck; drift; deep,(300 fsw); nature, (Verde Is. passage. 600 species of Nudibranch's); shark cave, and more.
You should think of going to other places also; there's Panglao Is. in Bohol. you can visit the Chocolate Hills, (1200+, 120- 300 ft coral mounds in the center of Bohol), then there are the Tarsiers, the worlds smallest primate. Lunch on the Loboc river with native singers.
More than 7,000 Is., so little time! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Thanks for the tips. We definitely want to visit other places besides PG. Maybe Anilao or ???

Is March - April the busy time of year? Will we have trouble finding places if we don't make reservations in advance?

We thought that maybe if we only book the first couple of days then we would have the freedom to go somewhere else once we are there...

yes, march-april is the summer months in the Philippines. So the kids will be out of school and people will be going on vacation. Unless you're not too picky on accomodations, it might be better to book your resorts ahead of time.

Anilao is close by and would be nice to dive, but it is much more quiet than PG - so I guess that would be perfect for your honeymoon. Check out Solana Resort.

For the rest of the days (maybe one more week)...there are many places in the Visayas region you could also check out and if you have anything in particular that you are looking for underwater, we could probably narrow it down for you.

edit: thinking about it, a good friend of mine just came back from her honeymoon in El Nido. Maybe check that area out. It's a very adventurous place if that's what you're in to.

Month of march is not so crowded, beginning of April yes, but you always find accommodations at Boracay or have a jump to Panay Island, Antique, what is an unspoiled scuba area with new spots and perfect for your real honeymoon. check out this Phaidon Beach Resort
