Simple question: How busy is Utila the week in between Christmas and New Years?

Thanks.

Busy raining, ha ha, John you funny guy.

December is rainy season, I was working on Roatan last December, over the holidays there were more sunny days than rainy ones, generally, rainy season is arriving sooner each year and finishing sooner... according to the locals.

Check out Ecomarine for all your diving needs -> Ecomarine Dive Shop (http://www.ecomarineutila.com)

Thanks a lot. I'm not worried about finding diving or the rain. I am curious about how crowded it is.

If you show up, that will be one more, then !

Holiday weeks and periods bring out the largest crowds to any vacation spot, whether its a dive destination of the world's Largest Ball of Cat Hair.

Hard to say what this year will bring to the Bay Islands 5 months out from now what with fluctuations in the world economy, but for many places, plans are being laid now to show up.

Utila was also one of those places that had a lot of last minute travelers showing up (compared to the AI Resorts on Roatan), but those airline seats are not as available due to capacity reduction. (less flights)

Not sure what your question really is, but when Utila is busy it's not really Grand Central Station by any stretch of the imagination.

I appreciate the info. The reason I ask is I am going down there for an extended stay starting in November. My girlfriend wants to come down on her Winter break from college. The break is Dec. 15th to the 20th of January. She wants to be in the states for Christmas. So I was trying to decide if it would be better for her to come down right after Christmas or right before new years and stay until the 17th or sometime around there.

One of the big things is that tickets are much more cheaper if you wait until later in that "holiday" week.

When is the typical rainy season? I'm thinking of coming down in late January. Is that a good time to be there?

The rainy season in Utila is typically Nov. thu Jan. Starts tapering off in Feb. As far as crowded goes......Utila is small and is getting more crowded by the day. It will increase with any holiday event. What you won't hear from dive op operators is that there's hundreds of unlicensed motorized vehicles operated by unlicensed drivers at high rates of speed on a steet that is barely 12 feet wide. Zero law enforcement.

I have been there late Jan - Feb. It' s Ok....you'll get some rain but not like December.
