In a little over 1 week I will be on my first liveaboard trip on Explorer Ventures, Caribbean Explorer 1.

Since this is my first liveaboard I have absolutely no idea what I should be packing and what quantities of clothing I will need.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good packing checklist? Is there anything special I will need for this particular boat?

Thanks!

Several bathing suits (at least 3) as it's nice to have a dry one to put on, hang the wet ones on deck someplace to dry. Fewer clothes then you think you'll need. Most people don't wear shoes on the boat (though I like to have a pair of floppers.)

This is asked a lot, if you go to search and put in something like "liveaboard pack" you'll find alot of stuff like this:

You don't need a lot of clothing on a liveaboard. Pack a gallon ziplock baggie with as many bathing suits as will fit. Pack a second gallon ziplock baggie with undies, shorts and summer shirts then wear a sweatshirt and sweats to the boat to use if the evenings get cool. When it comes to clothing, if it doesn't fit in the baggies or on your body during the trip to the boat you probably won't use it.

General rule of thumb: Twice the money, half the clothes.

What the others said. Also, any meds you might need (pain reliever, sudafed/claritin, etc). Band aids -- and/or stuff to deal with feet getting chewed up from being wet all week. Depending on how the AC in your room works you might want something like sweats to sleep in - if you keep the room cooler, things will dry faster.

As said before, just make sure you have enough bathing suits/swimshorts and something to wear between dives. Also take something for the evenings/nights as it may get colder.

I've been on one of their other liveaboards (Turks & Caicos Explorer II) and I'm sure the level of service will be the same or even better than the one I was on which I thought was exceptional.

I was on the CEXI in March... I used about three tshirts and three pairs of boardshorts. That was it.

You definitely need much less than you think you do.

Enjoy the trip! You're going to love it!
