GREAT Job to Diveheart volunteer instructor Bob Hemedinger for working with the Oaklawn school district. Also our sincere thank you to the school district.

Through Bob's efforts and the administration's generosity we have the use of their pool once a month throughout this school year at no charge.

In addition we have started discussions with and hope to start doing diveheart military wounded events at Naval Station Great Lakes starting in the near future.

Students from the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education-Roosevelt (ICRE-R) located in Chicago recently returned from their life-changing scuba trip to the Florida Keys. For most of the students it was their first scuba experience outside of the Midwest. It was more than a trip for the kids, their families and the dive buddies…it was an adventure.
ICRE-R is a state-run residential facility for young adults up to age 21 years with severe physical disabilities and/or other health impairments. Its mission is to get young people with disabilities to become as independent as possible as they transition from school to adult life. Diveheart has worked with more than 20 different students from the Center since beginning to work with ICRE-R in 2004, and has now taken their second trip in 2 years to the Keys. This year there were 4 students who completed their Classroom Training along with their confined water dive skills prior to leaving for Florida.
