There seems to be an on-going difficulty in finding good charter services in Ontario. We have been arranging dives for our divers for many years and face the same difficulty every season.

The problem isn't so much the quality of the boat and service but also the reliability. Why do we have to find and research new charters every spring?

By 'best', I mean not only a decent boat with good facilities, reasonable speed and a knowledgeable captain but also a charter that has been around for more than 1 or 2 years.

This problem is not limited to any one region of Ontario.

Here's your chance to pump your favorite charter boat service!!

Tell me the names of the 'best' dive boat charters servicing Kingston, Brockville, Lake Erie, Southern Georgian Bay, South Lake Huron/St. Clair and North Lake Huron.

If the service is affiliated with a local dive store that's even better.!
If it has an accommodation arrangement it's a plus!
If it's been in business (good business!) for more than 2 years, private email me right away!

Can't say if I'm good or not, that's up to the customer to decide.
But I have been around here for 10 years as a charter operater and 15 years as a diver in the Kingston area. But if you looking for space this summer, sorry my 2003 season is booked up except for May long weekend or the first weekend in Oct. If you are looking for space, PM me and I'll give you some names. we are fully booked by December most years. about half of 2004 is booked already.

Thanks!

I'm not necessarily looking for charters with 'space available'. Our 2003 dive schedule is pretty much set already.

I'm looking for the 'best of the best' so I can make contact, set up future charters and count on them for good sevice into the future.

Personally, I think we have bashed around the charter services in the Kingston-Brockville area enough ( see similar threads). Since it is such a personal choice on which charter service is the best it can lead to a thread getting out of hand with some pretty good mud-sling ,which I am sure we all would like to avoid.

I have and others have named a number of charter operators that are recommended, each has their own style and good points. Therefore to be honest, I can't really recommend one over the others.

I'm sure if you do a search you'll find the thread that has these recommendations in them.

Cheers!

Ok I accidently posted this in the charter recomendations for brockville area ....ooops sorry ... So here it is in the correct thread.....For Kingston area this is who I recommend....

Last year I was new at this diving stuff, only 20 dives or so and no steady buddy to dive with . I phoned up lots of dive shops looking for charters in kingston and they were usually full, when I contacted Northern Tech Divers I was amazed at how helpful they were , it was no problem not having a buddy and even when the charters were full, They said come down anyhow , we always have shore dives you can do and people looking for buddies...The service I have recieved there has been honest and thorough , I did get out on several charters, Walter and Spike Jr. ,Harold and the Seaducer, and Wayne and the ashely dawn they were all excellent . Safety is always a prority as well as customer satisfaction. I would highly recomend Northern Tech Divers .....
very reliable dive shop and organized charters...

Lawrence beagan of the former Diver Down still runs a dive charter business out of Toby. He is and will always be the number one dive service up there for me and my buds.

How long have you been Diving??? Have you ever heard of Ron MacDonald's Little Diver, or Deb Ring or Mo Hunt? You can thank these guys for finding the wrecks.

Long time since I have heard Deb's name mentioned on the board. Of course, we do owe alot to Deb and his gang ( two of my uncle's included ) who paved the way back in the 60's dving the Lillie and Gaskin etc etc etc etc.

Sorry Bubble boy but the question was who is the best charter service or something along that line and last heard that Deb Ring, and Ron Macdonald were not chartering so why mention them. Mo Hunt probably still is but is far from the best or friendliest.
