Walter,
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful description of mask clearing exercises you posted on a couple of threads:
http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15542
Janaki, my wife, has been really stressed by this drill and it has been putting her off diving for a while.
We just spent the evening in our pool systematically going through your drills and - lo and behold - no more problem.
Thank you! :yea:
We extended the process by putting a tank in the pool and working with that to complete the drills. Doing so we found out a couple of other useful titbits you might want to add next time you need to post that system - as I am sure you will.
After using the snorkle, removing your mask on scuba can be a bit diconcerting due to the exaust bubbles getting into the eyes and nose.
Keeping your head down by looking at the bottom while putting the mask back on and only then tipping your head back as you clear the mask makes a huge difference.
Thanks again for your help.
